Oppo, what website used self written ghost commentary to set ambience?

I remember some time ago a story broke about some website (reddit maybe?) using comments that the authors themselves wrote under the articles (with burner accounts) to “set the mood” and therefore create a lasting ambience on their website. I just can’t find the exact article again. Does anyone of you remember?

Have a picture of a flying Renault R5 Turbo for your trouble.

A LOT of sites do this. They typically aren’t community sites like Reddit/4chan/etc, but sites people only ever come across with a Google Search.

I’m sure many do, and it seems like an interesting approach - the ghost commenters leave, the general style of conversation stays. I just can’t find any newspaper report via google, which is really frustrating.
